The Leica M-Adapter-L allows the user to mount nearly any M-mount lens onto an L-mount camera. It also provides exposure metering, aperture priority AE and manual settings. When 6-bit coded Leica M lenses are used, the focal length and model designation are communicated to the camera automatically and are made available in the file metadata. Non 6-bit M lenses can still be used, with dozens of lens profiles manually selectable in the camera’s menu.
